Tying Knots...

"When you reach the end of your rope,
tie a knot in it and hang on."

~Thomas Jefferson

Although this has long been one of my favorite quotes, it seems worth pointing out that the more knots you tie in a particular rope, the shorter the rope gets. In particularly trying times, your rope might be so short that you must grasp it white-knuckled with both hands while furtively scouting out the safest place to land without drowning or being eaten alive.

Of course, there is also a certain art to UNtying knots. To lengthening the rope until you're no longer hanging on for dear life because you find yourself picking up some momentum and suddenly you find yourself swinging with such envy-inducing wild abandon, and you remember that you can swim, after all, so what does it matter if you let go, really?
